Welcome to Chelsea

A westside hub for art & culture.
Luxury high-rise buildings, world-class art galleries, and a thriving entertainment scene make Chelsea the perfect marriage between uptown ritz and downtown glam. In a neighborhood that's equal parts convenience and culture, Chelsea has a little something to make just about everybody happy.
Chelsea has consistently served as the setting for iconic pop culture moments with artists like Andy Warhol and Patti Smith living and working in the neighborhood. Now, Chelsea is home to world-famous retrofit architecture and some of the finest art galleries in the city.

The Neighbors

A diverse community of artists and professionals.

Chelsea is home to a large number of professionals drawn to the neighborhood’s prime location, as well as its fun and laid-back options for going out. With tons of parks and public spaces, there's plenty of room for families to stretch out and enjoy the city. Chelsea is known for its art galleries, hotels, restaurants, and nightlife that cater to an energetic crowd.

What to Expect

Great nightlife and an easy commute to anywhere in Manhattan.

In Chelsea, everything you need is at your fingertips, especially when it comes to transportation. It’s conveniently located near a number of subway lines, the Path train, and Penn Station.

Entertainment comes easy in Chelsea. The neighborhood has a wealth of bars and restaurants that cater to nightlife enthusiasts across the city. Chelsea also has a thriving dining scene with a variety of upscale and low-key options across a range of cuisines.

The Lifestyle

Gallery openings, outdoor lounging, and a new place to discover around every corner.

Chelsea is home to numerous galleries, with the epicenter of the art scene out on 10th and 11th avenues. Farther west you’ll find the West Side Highway, an idyllic path along the Hudson River that's frequented by runners, bikers and walkers. It’s also one of the best places to take in a sunset in the city.

For foodies there’s Chelsea Market, which carries everything from live lobsters to gourmet cheeses. Another popular destination is the High Line, where a set of old train tracks have been transformed into an elevated park. In the summer, the walking path that spans from Gansevoort to 34th Street turns into a fun, festive boardwalk.

What Not to Expect

A quiet, residential area that caters to a more tranquil lifestyle.

In Chelsea, traffic can be loud, and streets are usually crowded with pedestrians during the day. If you want to escape the crowds, try the more subdued West Chelsea past 9th avenue.

The Market

Newer high-rise buildings, sprawling warehouses, and some steals in post-war walk-ups.

In Chelsea, price points are high for luxury buildings, and slightly more affordable for smaller walk-ups.

The class and culture, minus the pretension.

Chelsea is a diverse neighborhood with a rich history of social activism and artistic expression. It welcomes neighbors of all kinds to add to its charm.
